Not Ignorance, It's Love

Read Jon's story in gay.com's Positive and Proud section. Interesting read. Unforgettable line for me is when he said that "the greatest contributor to the spread of HIV isn’t ignorance, it’s love."

positive and proud

I'm not hoping I'd get infected, of course, but I support those who have been tested positive and admire them for their emotional strength.

Tequilla Mondays

I was surprised Monday afternoon by a call from Resty telling me he's back in Manila. I didn't expect him back so soon. Last time we talked was before he left 3 months ago. I remember how excited he was back then, with dreams of earning Singapore dollars and finally hitting it big.

He was a tourist (with hopes of getting a working pass). His girlfriend was there so food, lodging, and travel/shopping money was not really his problem. He told me that once settled, he (together with a bunch of Pinoys) immediately went job hunting. Two weeks before he left for Manila, he got hired by an employment agency (he worked at the agency itself) owned by a fellow Filipino. The employer proceeded to getting a working pass for Resty, but even before the result of the working pass application arrived, authorities raided the establishment and had it closed.

Too bad. So my friend went packing back to Manila cuz it's already his third month and there's no more time to look for a job.

jose cuervo tequilla

He slept over Monday night. He brought along this half-filled bottle of Jose Cuervo and we ended up drinking till 2 in the morning.

By the way, he's the one who gave me my shih-tzu named Princess who was so ecstatic to see him. Dogs don't really forget their masters no matter how long they've been apart.

P.S.
Yeah, that's a wine glass. The pic above would remind me to buy a jigger or a shot glass for occasions like this.

Yawn!

It had been raining the past few days due to Typhoon Falcon. And for a shih-tzu who loves sleeping on the cold floor even on cold nights, shirts are a must.

And no Princess is not angry here, she's just yawning.

Enrique Has Something To Show

The fanboy/fangirl in me comes out everytime I see a hot, innocent-looking, young actor who sheds his clothes off for the first time. Well, I don't know if this is Enrique Gil's first time but I haven't seen him in this state before.

enrique gil

His wholesome image has been tarnished (at least in my mind) by actually showing off that bulge. Really. This picture now crosses my mind everytime I see him on television or I come across a picture of him on internet.

Goodness gracious he's so hot! I know his abs and arms need a little more working out but I love the body nonetheless.

Enrique Gil is currently in ABS-CBN shows Good Vibes and Mula sa Puso.

Derek For Bo Athletics

What's the first thing you do upon waking up? Well, after going to the john, I drink my coffee while I turn on my laptop to check mails and feeds.

And this is so nice to see in my inbox so early in the day.

derek2

Rawr! Derek Ramsay is so sexy. Every inch of that Filipino-British body is to die for. Angelica Panganiban is really one lucky human being.

So nice of SM to get him as the endorser of Bo Athletics which is an exclusive label for SM Men's Fashion. Derek looks every inch an athlete in the ads.

Red Wine

I'm really a beer drinker, and was kinda surprised when my sister gifted me with a bottle of red wine during my birthday last January. Been hearing about how healthy red wine is as long as you don't overdrink it. Like a glass a day would be fine.

Out of nothing to do – or perhaps I was just procrastinating – I decided to open the bottle last night. You could imagine how I tried to open it cuz I couldn't find any corkscrew in the house. So I tried this and this. The latter worked (kinda) but the cork got torn and all I ended up using another tool – pliers.

Google says you have to let air in the bottle for some time before drinking so I fed my dog first and looked for the single glass wine in the house which I bought some years ago because it was on sale.

red wine

So I proceeded on pouring the wine, smelled it just like how I see people do, and tasted it. Then I stopped, paused, got the bottle, and searched for an expiration date. LoL! I really don't like the taste of wine, to think that it's just red wine.

And then I remembered the first time I had a taste of beer. I didn't like it as well but ended up loving it.

Kape Barako

There's a new gay indie film starring a veteran gay-indie-film actor Johnron Tañada. From the screenplay of Lex Bonife comes Kape Barako, the story of a struggling coffee shop and how the baristas made a way to save it.

Kape Barako

Aside from Johnron Tañada, the movie also features Frederick Peralta, Afi Africa, Joyce Acorda, Miko Pasamonte, Marcus Aboga, and Allan Stevens.

I love the trailer's background music which was sung by Lex Bonife himself. And the Kape Barako logo is altered from the logo of a popular coffee shop. But would you really drink a cup of coffee with a drop of someone else's sperm on it? Watch the trailer below.

Kape Barako is gonna be shown at the UP Film Institute, Diliman, Q.C. on June 27, 2011 at 8 PM. Ticket price is P200. The movie's regular showing is tentatively by August 2011.

Rainy Wednesday

I went mountain climbing yesterday with a friend. We didn't know it would rain when we planned it Tuesday night, and when it rained Wednesday morning when we were about to leave, it didn't stop us thinking it wouldn't be raining in Laguna where Mt. Kalisungan is.

Last time I went mountain climbing with K was when we did Mt. Manabu. It was the first time we didn't get a guide. Thinking Mt. Kalisungan's trail was as established as the trail of Manabu and the other mountains we've hiked, we also didn't get a guide yesterday.

Little did we know that the forks of the trail were so misleading, as well as some people. A young man we passed by gave us the wrong directions so we ended up heading in the direction of a different mountain.

Good thing we ended up in the house of a very old couple who live there by themselves. The kindhearted man in his late 60s voluntarily brought us to a trail leading to the summit.

The trail, though, brought us to a vast cogon area where we couldn't find an opening. We took the slightest sign of parted grass as opening and made our own way through the thick cogon area. It was raining all thoughout but it rained especially hard that time. And since we're nearing the Kalisungan summit which is known for its strong winds, our ordeal in finding our own way through the cogon grass was made even harder because the grass kept slapping at our faces caused by the strong wind.

K was beginning to have doubts we could find our way through, coupled with fear of snakes that might be present in the thick foliage. I just kept on being positive, telling him we're already near the summit. And it's true because what we could see beyond us was only the dark skies threatening heavier rains. There's no more mountain. No more trees. So I knew we're almost there.

And then God gave us a sight of the summit. I was ecstatic. But K wasn't because there was still no trail. After about 45 minutes of finding our way through the cogon foliage, we stumbled upon the main trail. I shouted. And let go of the fear that has been building up inside me. No matter how positive I wanted to be, I couldn't help but be afraid. It was almost 4 PM. In the middle of the cogon area with no trail. Drenched in rain water and the skies threatening to pour more.

My pocket camcorder and digital camera were useless. I couldn't use them much because I didn't want them to get wet. Those two are my life. But I braved taking some shots. It's useless trekking that long and not have even just a picture of the summit.

But it turned out we took quite a lot.

Anyway, here's Mt. Kalisungan's summit from a few feet down.

mt. kalisungan3Despite the fear of landslides, I really like climbing when it rains. Less heat, I don't get easily out of breath.
